SEALING INSPECTION ON FOOD TRAYS

Viewtech presents the new generation of optical sorters machines: VT2510 for sealing inspection on food trays.
These machines, thanks to their features, helps to automate the quality control of trays containing fresh food products.
The VT2510 sorter unit allows the inspection of sealed trays (typically packaged in modified atmosphere – MAP); this inspection allows to verify the compliance to the quality requirements.
The most sought-after inspection, concerns the control of the welding and then the identification of any contamination (product residues in welding), bubbles, leaks and so on; identifying these non-conformities, allows to reject all the packages with poor integrity of the welding; the final goal is avoiding the conditions that downgrade the tightness of the seal.
The aforementioned control (welding control on food trays), is therefore extended to the control of labels (in terms of presence, position and correctness), to the control of barcodes and/or matrix-codes (in terms of presence, position and correctness), to the control of dates or alphanumeric strings (in terms of presence, position and correctness) and to the control of the content.
This complete inspection, made possible by a machine vision system, is possible on all types and formats of trays; therefore both thermoformed and thermo-sealed trays can be inspected, regardless of shape (it can be classic rectangular, but also circular or polygonal) and color (any color is possible).
It is also possible the inspection of trays with transparent, semitransparent or covering top film/foil.
The number and types of possible controls and inspections, make the VT2510 sorter unit a process automation tool; moreover, the connection possibilities and information exchange, make it compliant with Industry 4.0 requirements.
